I’ve been thinking about making a book blog for a while now. By a while, I mean around 2017-ish, I had just started getting back into reading that summer after a couple years of reading maybe 5-6 books total. Alas, I was still in school majoring in physics and using what little free time I had to scroll social media, go to the gym, and have a social life. It turns out that adult life is a little bit calmer than that. I graduated in May of last year, and it’s taken me a few (okay, more than a few) months but I think I’ve finally adjusted and so it just felt like this was the right time to bite the bullet and try something different. Something new.
I have a lot of different interests when it comes to books. I like suspense/thrillers and horror, sci-fi and fantasy (as of late it’s mostly been adult SFF, but some YA’s always gonna be occasionally sprinkled in, I think), general adult fiction, and the occasional graphic novel.
Some of my all-time favorite books are The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller, Deathless by Catherynne M. Valente, Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn, and The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. That’s not really a full picture of my tastes, but I think it’s a pretty decent jumping off point.
I plan on posting reviews here, obviously, but I also plan on posting some other stuff. Maybe the occasional meme tag, general discussions about book and literature related topics. I’m really just gonna wing it, to be honest.
I’m still kind of finding my footing when it comes to reviews. I have a standard rubric for my reviews I threw together in the span of like maybe two minutes that I’m gonna be using while I figure out exactly how to work everything out and I’m sure it will all change and evolve with time. For now, I’m just going with the flow.
Also, I’m not sure how long this formal grammar and proper capitalization is going to last on this blog, my general typing style on other social media is super informal. We’ll see.
Other places I’ll be posting my reviews are Goodreads (where I also keep track of my reading progress and TBR.) You can also follow me on Twitter and Instagram though those aren’t entirely dedicated to bookish things.
